This month, the West Maui culinary institution, Roy’s Restaurant , celebrates 20 years here on Maui. I happened to be eating dinner there the other night, and asked for details on the festivities they have planned to share with you. Here’s what I found out:
On Friday June 17th, the restaurant will host an “Underground” dinner. This is the latest trend in dining, and the them and location will be kept a secret, with guests taken to a surprise location. On Saturday, June 18th, the restaurant will be closed for a walk-around, food-station style event. Special guests for the weekend include Greg and Mary Sonnier from Gabrielle restaurant in New Orleans, Ed Kenney from Town restaurant in Honolulu, John Finger and Terry Sawyer from Hog Island Oyster, and, of course, the Executive Chefs from Roy’s Hawaii restaurants.
Tickets for the Friday Underground sit-down dinner are $150, Saturday’s event is $100, or go to both for $225. Call Roy’s Kahana for tickets: 808-669-6999. www.roysrestaurant.com
